Exploring Four Falls in Laguna: A Weekend Getaway to Talay Falls, Hidden Falls, Hulugan Falls, and Taytay Falls

July 21, 2024
Hi! I’m Shiela. In this blog, I’d love to share our amazing first local adventure to four stunning waterfalls. They are Talay Falls, Hidden Falls, and Hulugan Falls in Luisiana, Laguna, and Taytay Falls in Majayjay, Laguna. These beautiful spots are a must-visit for nature lovers and adventure seekers in the Philippines!
Making a Travel Plan
Making travel plans is as exciting as anticipating a special day in your life. Traveling is a perfect reward after a long month of tedious work. It can also be a great getaway with friends and loved ones. It offers a perfect opportunity to release stress and build deeper connections with those you are with.
Planning Our Trip to Laguna Waterfalls
The idea for this adventure started when I saw a Facebook reel featuring a majestic waterfall. The caption described it as Hulugan Falls in Luisiana, Laguna. As someone passionate about traveling, I immediately sent the reel to my partner and suggested we visit this beautiful spot, which was not far from our current home in Los Baños, Laguna. My partner, always the planner, was eager to go on this journey, and to my surprise, he planned the entire trip to include not just one, but four waterfalls!
We decided to go on the weekend because I have a full-time job. He created an itinerary to make the most of our two days in nature.

Our Waterfall Experience in Laguna
For this trip, we opted to use my partner’s motorcycle, which made getting to each destination easier and more convenient. When we arrived at the jump-off point for Hulugan Falls, a guide took us to the orientation area, where we paid the necessary fees:
Fees for Hulugan Falls and other falls:
- Entrance Fee: 50 PHP per person
- Tour Guide Fee: 800 PHP (We added a tip for great photos!)
- Life Vest Fee: 70 PHP per person (optional)
- Tricycle Fare: 60 PHP per person (round-trip to trailhead)
- Restroom Fee: 5 – 20 PHP (depending on use)
Fees for the Taytay Falls
- Entrance Fee: 50 pesos per head
- Room for rent: 1,000 pesos for 2 beds, 2,000 pesos for four beds
For this two-day trip, we spent a total of 2,500 pesos. This excludes gas expenses since my partner has his motorcycle on full tank before the trip.
The hike to Talay Falls was a short 30-minute trek, though the trail was muddy due to recent rain. If you’re planning to visit, wear proper hiking shoes with grip, as it can be slippery. After taking some photos at Talay Falls, we continued to the nearby Hidden Falls.

The hike to Hulugan Falls was more challenging with steep paths. Still, the view of the towering waterfall was worth it. The mist from the cascading water made it difficult, but we managed to get some great shots. We regretted not using our waterproof bag for our gear.
Hulugan Falls in Luisiana, Laguna is one of the most impressive falls I’ve seen, with crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming. The trek was definitely worth the reward of a refreshing swim!
We took pictures and went swimming below the falls. It was a good time to take pictures because there were only a few people when we arrived there by 9:00 AM. People started to gather at around 10:00 to 11:00 AM. We asked the guide to take photos of us together. I was so happy about the photos and the Tour Guide was kind. During the trek, I was able to talk to him. He told me that he recognized I was a Bicolana. This was because I said “tabi apo” while passing by big trees. He happened to be a Bicolano as well. What a coincidence! He asked me about the hiking shoe I was wearing and I told him it was a hiking shoe worth 400 pesos I bought in Shopee.

We went back to the orientation area by around 11:00 AM. We did not go the same way as the path we took to go to the Hulugan Falls. Instead, we took a steep stairs that let us ascend back to the trailhead. In general, I would not recommend that you bring your grandparents on this trip. It would be difficult for anyone who has weak bones or stamina to ascend. We changed our clothes and prepared to go to our next destination which is the Taytay Falls.

Visiting Taytay Falls in Majayjay, Laguna
After a quick rest, we traveled to Taytay Falls in Majayjay, Laguna, a serene and cool destination. The water was incredibly clear and cold, offering the perfect relief after our hike. The falls are located in a Mt. Banahaw Protected Landscape under RA 9847. Visitors are encouraged to respect nature. They should avoid damaging plants or wildlife.
Taytay Falls is the perfect spot for a peaceful swim. However, the cold water might be too much for some to endure for too long!

We were surprised by how clear and cold the water is! The water was bluish and it feels like a ton of ice was placed on it. We took pictures as usual, and enjoyed the scenery and took a dip in the water for a few minutes. There were danger signs on the way. There are signs of landslide below the falls. The rocks beside the falls were detached from their original location. The place was very relaxing. It was all I needed to regain my motivation to work. Now, I’m ready to save for the next trip!
